Hunter Creek Trail — A relatively easy out-and-back through a canyon. Usually with a creek crossing and waterfall at the end, but water may be sparse come August. Can be hot and exposed if a warm summer day. Close to town.
Galena Creek Regional Park — Forested trails with varying difficulty levels. And also where the wedding will be. Great for all abilities.
Mount Rose Trail — This strenuous 10-mile out-and-back climbs to 10,778 feet with panoramic views of Lake Tahoe, surrounding peaks, and Reno.
Tunnel Creek Trail — Trail above Incline Village with sweeping views of Lake Tahoe. Moderate difficulty with a rewarding payoff.
Idlewild Park & the Truckee River Walk — Take a stroll along the river through Idlewild Park and stop at The Hub Coffee Roasters. A perfect slow morning activity.
Idlewild Farmers Market — Held on Sunday mornings, stop by the market for coffee, pastries, and a walk through the park. One of Margaret's favorite relaxing weekend activities.
Midtown — Reno's most walkable neighborhood. Good place for a bite to eat (Perenn, Brasserie St James, Kauboi, and Mexcal are a few recommendations) and a cocktail (1864, Death and Taxes, Craft, and Pinon Bottle are top spots).
Where to — We count ourselves lucky to be so close to Tahoe. We usually stick to North Lake Tahoe or Truckee area for its accessibility to Reno and unmatched outdoor activities.
Beaches — Take a short hike down to Chimney Beach (no reservation needed but arrive early since it fills up fast and parking can be hectic) or get a reservation at Sand Harbor, one of the most beautiful beaches around Tahoe.
Hiking — Too many to list! Reach out to us if you would like any recommendations.
Food and Drink — After hiking or enjoying the beach, stop by T's Mesquite Rotisserie in Incline Village or Alibi for a beer. Jake's on the Lake is a good spot for the views.
In-N-Out — Of course. Margaret's tip: fries well done.
Royce — Our go-to for burgers (besides In-N-Out). Casual and consistently great.
Full Belly Deli — Order the Gnar Burrito. You won't regret it.
Beloved Bakery — A perfect breakfast or pastry stop.
Arario — Korean restaurant in Midtown.
Tahoe Bagel Company — Newish spot with delightful bagels.
